Guide
Train your ads with real results
This optional five-minute setup links Meta's Conversions API to Evolamate. Once it's done, every lead you mark Qualified or Won on your Leads board is signalled back to your own ad account — so Meta learns to find more people like the customers who actually bought, not just the ones who clicked. Nothing to install on your website, nothing to code.
Honest expectation: the signals start flowing the moment you set this up, but Meta only uses them once your ads are running. Set it up early — by the time your first campaign delivers, your account already has quality data waiting.
⚠️ The one trap: along the way Meta will offer "Conversions API Gateway" and partner integrations (Shopify, Birch and friends). Those are separate hosted products — some paid. Skip anything that says Gateway or shows partner logos. You want the plain "Set up manually" path, and it's completely free.
- 1
Open Meta Events Manager — in the right business
Open business.facebook.com/events_manager2 (there's a button for this on your Channels page too). Check the selector in the top-right corner: it must show the business your ads run under — the same one your ad account lives in. If it shows a personal account or a different business, switch it first. - 2
Already have a Meta pixel? Skip ahead
If your website already runs a Meta pixel, you don't create anything new — your pixel is a dataset. Open Datasets in the left menu, click your pixel, and jump to step 5. - 3
Create a dataset
Click Connect data (top of the left menu) → choose Web. When Meta asks how you want to connect, choose "Set up manually" — not a partner, not the Gateway. Name it something like "My Business Leads" and create it. - 4
If you accidentally land on the Gateway screen
A screen titled "Connect with Conversions API Gateway" offering a free trial with a partner means you took the wrong fork. Press Cancel (bottom-left) — nothing is charged, nothing needs undoing — and go back to step 3. - 5
Copy the Dataset ID
On your dataset's page, the Dataset ID is the long number right under its name (also shown in the right-hand column). Copy it — it's the first of the two values Evolamate needs. - 6
Generate the access token
Open the dataset's Settings tab → scroll to the Conversions API section → press Generate access token. Copy the token. Treat it like a password: don't email it, don't screenshot it — it goes into Evolamate and nowhere else, and Evolamate stores it encrypted. - 7
Paste both into Evolamate
On the Channels page, find "Train your ads with real results". Paste the Dataset ID and the token, press Save. That's the whole setup — from now on it runs by itself. - 8
See it working
Move any lead to Qualified on your Leads board, then check the dataset's Overview in Events Manager — a "Lead" event from Evolamate appears (Meta can take up to 30 minutes to display it, and make sure the date range includes today — the default range sometimes ends yesterday).
What happens from here
- • Every lead you mark Qualified or Won sends a quality signal automatically — leads that arrived through Messenger match strongest (Meta's own IDs); leads you add by hand match when they have an email or phone number.
- • Signals are privacy-correct: contact details are hashed before they leave; a lead with nothing to match on is skipped, never sent as junk.
- • When your ads run, Meta's targeting optimises toward people like your qualified leads — your sales judgement, training your ads.
