Connect Threads to Evolamate

This turns on automatic Threads publishing, replies in your Inbox and Threads insights. You create your own free Threads app in the Meta developer dashboard, add your Threads account to it, and paste two values into Evolamate — about ten minutes, once. Because the app is yours, the connection is yours: nothing is shared with other businesses and you can revoke it any time from your own dashboard.

Would rather not connect? Switch Threads on anyway. Every approved concept gets a Threads caption (within the 500-character limit) as a ready-to-post pack.

Before you start

  • A Threads account for the business, logged in on your phone (the tester invite is accepted inside the Threads app).
  • The Facebook account you use for the Meta developer dashboard. If you already made a Meta app for Facebook & Instagram, use the same login — but Threads needs its own app, created with the Threads use case.
  • Evolamate open in another tab at Channels.
  1. 1

    Create the Threads app

Open developers.facebook.com/apps and press Create App. Give it a name (your business name plus "Threads" is fine). On the Use cases screen choose Access the Threads API, press Next, leave the business portfolio as it is, and press Create app. No payment, no review: the app starts in Development mode, which is all this needs.
  2. 2

    Add the five Threads permissions

In the left menu open Use cases, then on the Threads API row press Customize. Under Permissions press Add next to each of these. They are what let Evolamate post, reply and measure — nothing else.
threads_basicRead your profile and posts — required for everything else
threads_content_publishPublish posts, images and carousels on your behalf
threads_manage_repliesSend the replies you approve in the Inbox
threads_read_repliesBring replies to your posts into the Inbox
threads_manage_insightsRead views, likes, replies and reposts so results feed your strategy
  3. 3

Tell the app where Evolamate lives

Still under the Threads API use case, open Settings. Paste these three addresses into the matching fields, then press Save. The first is where Threads sends you back after you approve the connection; the other two let Threads tell Evolamate if you ever remove the app, so your stored access is deleted immediately.
    Redirect Callback URL
    Uninstall Callback URL
    Delete Callback URL
  4. 4

Add your Threads account as a tester

In the left menu open App roles → Roles, press Add People, choose Threads Tester, and enter your Threads username. Then, on your phone, open the Threads app → Settings → Account → Website permissions → Invites and Accept the invitation. This is the step people miss: until the invite is accepted, Threads refuses the connection with "no profile".
  5. 5

Copy the Threads App ID and Secret

Back under Use cases → Threads API → Settings you will see Threads App ID and Threads App Secret (press Show). Copy those two. They are not the same as the App ID on the app's Basic settings page — Threads has its own pair.
  6. 6

Paste them into Evolamate and connect

In Evolamate open Channels, switch Threads on, press Connect Threads — start setup, paste the Threads App ID and Secret and press Save my Threads app. Then press Connect on the Threads card. Threads asks you to approve the five permissions; approve, and you land back in Evolamate with Threads connected. From here posts publish on schedule, replies arrive in the Inbox, and insights flow into your results.

Running clients? One app, many accounts

An agency does this once. Create the Threads app under your own developer account, then add each client's Threads account as a Threads Tester (step 4). The client accepts the invite inside their Threads app. In Evolamate, switch to that client's business, paste the same Threads App ID and Secret, and press Connect while logged into the client's Threads account in the browser (or send the client the Connect link to approve). Each client's access token is stored on their own business; the app is simply the door they all walk through. A client who prefers to own everything can create their own app with this guide instead.

If something doesn't work

  • "Threads didn't return a profile" — the tester invite was not accepted, or you approved with a different Threads account. Check Threads → Settings → Account → Website permissions.
  • "Invalid redirect URI" — the Redirect Callback URL in step 3 must be exactly https://app.evolamate.com/api/channels/threads/callback, saved.
  • "Invalid client" — you pasted the app's Basic App ID instead of the Threads App ID from the Threads API settings page (step 5).
  • Connection stops after two months — it shouldn't: Evolamate refreshes Threads tokens automatically. If it ever does, press Connect again.

Stuck? Write to contact@evolamate.com or open Support in the app and a person walks it through with you.
